History

Preserves and promotes the shared history & culture of greater Southampton, NY. From sterling silver to old buildings and archives, Southampton History Museum has been preserving and promoting the shared history and culture of Southampton, NY, for more than 125 years.Established in 1898 and incorporated in 1910,we currently operate 4 separate heritage sites, featuring 14 historic structures with changing exhibitions, an archives and research center, as well as educational programs for school children, families, and adults. Our diverse programs are made possible, in part, by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature, and by local taxpayers of Southampton Union Free School District . Southampton History Museum is headquartered at Rogers Mansion, where we maintain an Archives & Research Center dedicated to the history of greater Southampton. Our resources currently comprise over 8,000 volumes, photographs, maps and more on a wide range of subjects from account books to family memorabilia.
