An iconic restaurant with a rich history Shippy’s, a Southampton treasure, was started in the 50’s by William (Shippy) Casgrain (formerly of Toots Shors in Manhattan). Shippy served traditional American fare, steaks, chops, fowl and seafood, which is continued today by the Nielsen family. In 1978, Ed Nielsen added Pumpernickels East to the restaurant name, along with an international flair and German cuisine. Shippys has an old fashioned, comfortable atmosphere and professional, personable service. Dining at Shippy’s will leave you with a lasting impression of the golden ages of restaurants gone by. Serving lunch Monday through Saturday and dinner every night. Open year round.
